Kelly J Photography

I’m Kelly, a photographer based in Glastonbury, Somerset with over 15 years of experience across both wedding and horror photography. That combination sounds unusual but it’s actually what makes my horror work different. Shooting weddings has given me the ability to read people, work quickly and find genuine emotion in a scene, and all of that feeds directly into the darker, more creative side of my work.

My horror photography is rooted in the films I grew up obsessing over but has evolved over the years into something more psychological and personal. I’m drawn to subtle, atmospheric horror rather than gore. The sleep paralysis feeling, the sense of dread before anything has actually happened, the creeping certainty that something is wrong. I use art as a way of processing real lived experience and that emotional honesty is what gives the work its weight.

Every shoot starts long before we get on location. I storyboard concepts, scout locations, make props and costume pieces and put serious thought into preparation so that when we actually shoot, we’re not figuring it out on the day. I also take commissions for original artwork and work regularly with musicians and bands who want imagery that genuinely reflects their sound.

I shoot on location across Somerset, Bristol and Bath and occasionally further afield.
