Colin Daniels Photography

I am a photographer based just outside Blackpool and I do various types of photography, portraits, fashion, glamour, boudoir, dance and product, I have even been known to do the odd wedding.  I am a Qualified member of the Guild of Photographers and I am constantly learning with them.

My journey in photography started at an early age and my very first camera was a Kodak Instamatic which used a 126 film cartridge. I also remember having a slim model that used a 110 film cartridge and both of them used the little flashcube. Those cameras went everywhere with me and after a while, I got a Praktica MTL3 35mm SLR and I even did some black and white developing and printing just before I left school.

At 18 I joined the Army and a year later got married. My photography stalled a bit then but my camera did travel with me and I even upgraded to a PentaxMV1, which I still have. I took it on active service in the first Gulf War and my photos at this point were just travel and family photos.  After leaving the Army, I spent a number of years trying to get on my feet and eventually I went into a franchise doing photography specialising in 360 virtual tours.  Unfortunately, this was at the point when the housing market was at a low and digital cameras were just coming out. Therefore due to a lack of experience running a business and the lack of support, I vowed to try and better myself. I applied for a full-time job in order to finance some online training.

Then a few years ago I found out about the Guild of Photographers and did my first training course. That’s when the bug really hit me! since then I have done a multitude of courses and other things and my photography has taken off. Now if I am not at work, I am concentrating on my photography and even mix the two.
